Catherine Bowen

Board Member at Large, Luke 15 House

Group Facilitator, Volunteer at Luke 15 House

Catherine has served as a member of the board for 3 terms, over the past 8 years.

Catherine first came to Luke 15 House in Jan. 2005, volunteering two days a week, on the invitation of the founder Allan Ammerlaan, to guide the residents in nutritious meal planning, shopping & cooking.  Nine months later she became full-time staff as assistant to the Executive Director.  After 4 years on the ‘job’, Catherine returned to her role as a regular weekly volunteer, shopping, driving, assisting with special events. She continues with what she loves the most, that is, in facilitating group time with residents each Thursday, focusing on healing, love, perseverance, dignity & hope.  Every few months, she organizes the Luke 15 (indoor/outdoor) crazy Olympics… which bring a lot of laughs and much-appreciated break for residents, from their daily routine of hard work.
Catherine's work experience has included office administration, floristry, & special events planner/coordinator for festivals in the Tri-Cities, (Coq., PoCo, & Pt. Moody). As for her Church, she has coordinated several special events, the adult faith formation program & youth group. For 6 years, she was on the team of leaders for Kairos weekends (3 day Christian retreats) in women’s prison.
Catherine is grateful for God's grace in giving her the gift to see & love each 'Prodigal Son’ with the heart of Jesus. She knows, and tells the men that loving them is one of the great purposes that God has created her for. She hopes to continue being an active part of the Luke 15 family for many years beyond her upcoming 14th Anniversary with them.

Catherine and Larry have been married for 46 years, and have two sons.
