A Christ-centred home and school of love, hope, & healing for men with addiction.

Founded in 1992, Luke 15 House is a non-profit B.C. Christian Charity that provides holistic support for men recovering from addiction, by meeting social, mental, emotional, physical, environmental and spiritual needs.

Why We Exist

One in every four households in BC is affected by addiction.  The destruction to the economic, social and moral fabric of our society, if not addressed, is perpetuated from generation to generation.  Often the stigma attached to addiction and mental health prevents individuals from seeking help that they so desperately need.

Often, addiction begins with a very wounded child. Most of our residents have been abandoned as children by their parents. Some have been emotionally , physically, and sexually abused.  Many have been raised in multiple foster homes, while others have been neglected and unloved most of their lives. This pain, lack of family structure, and poor choices lead these men to the streets to find refuge in drug-addiction, alcoholism and crime. They become broken, desperate, hopeless, and homeless. We are here to bring them home and restore their lives.

For kids on the street at age 14 to 24, there is Covenant House, but this door closes at 25. That is where Luke 15 steps in. We are here to bring adult men home and restore their lives at any age.

The cry for addiction services has never been more desperate. From 2016 to 2023, Canada lost 40,642 individuals to substance overdose, with 2023 reporting a 5% increase over 2022. 89% of those deaths ocurred in BC, Alberta, and Ontario, with men accounting for over 70% of deaths. Luke 15 House continues to respond by offering a safe place for male addicts to recover, but we do not have enough capacity to meet the needs at hand. A shortage of beds persists.

Our Urgent Financial Need

We are registered and approved as a Support Recovery House by the Assisted Living Registry and Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction. We comply with the guidelines of the Ministry of Mental Health & Addictions and the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, but there is no funding available from either ministries. We rely on donations to run our programs. With a monthly shortfall of over $7500, we need your support just to keep our doors open. We turn deserving men away due to lack of beds. We need your financial support to expand our capacity.

Our Impact

Our alumni have branched out into various walks of life. Some start their own business, some work in trades, some go back to school to improve their employability and many work in addiction services to give back to those struggling.
